Review on AquaIllumination Prime Tank Mount: Enhancing Your Aquarium Lighting Experience by Stacy Mendoza

Revainrating 1 out of 5

A glaring design flaw that will break your light. Requires some self-configuration.

The arm has a ball joint so the lantern can be moved freely. Great if you want to clean a lantern, for example. Unfortunately, its position is such that if you rotate the light more than 1/8th of a turn, the sharp edge of the bracket will cut into the cable. With the other side up, the cord fits nicely into the slot, but the slot is so small that you can't adjust the light much without squeezing the cord into the sharper metal edges. I took a file and smoothed the cut edge so that when I move the light the cord just slides to one side. $30 for a mount is very expensive if - if used as advertised - it will ruin your light. This can be fixed by redesigning the mount to allow the cable to move freely, or changing the light by moving the cable away from the anchor point. Aside from breaking my flashlight, it works fine. But now I have to replace the light.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • A shady purchase for the elderly
