A quality product that is easy to install and performs well enough to pay for itself in extended cartridge filter life!

This surprisingly beefy little device is a sturdy glass jar with a thick brass lid and a well-designed filter that's fairly easy to clean. Easy and straight forward installation that was pretty straightforward (they even provided teflon tape!). Overall I'm very impressed with this unit so far and will be purchasing another for my campsite if I haven't had any issues after 3 months of continuous use (it's only been 40 days since I installed it). I installed this device in front of my cartridge filters and am confident that it will greatly increase their life based on the amount of fouling/debris it has already prevented. I bought the device with the "Siliphos" filter because I have VERY hard water and the "Siliphos balls" inside the filter are supposed to help reduce the hardness. I can't honestly say yet how effective they are at reducing hardness and dross as I believe it may take a while for them to be really effective. I will update this aspect of my review after about 90 days of use. My only complaint about this unit is that I wish there was a mounting bracket included, or at least available for purchase, to support it. There is no problem installing it in rigid conduit that is properly supported on both sides of this unit BUT if it isn't and one or both sides are connected to flex then the installation doesn't look neat. and professional. I haven't had any leaks so far but it worries me over time as the pipeline is already sagging and I'm trying to figure out the best way to support it (ie not being able to tie the pipe). straight up against the wall because you need space around the filter so you can use the wrench provided to remove the filter canister. I'll attach some photos of my solution for this (assuming I can find them).
