Like the other reviewers here, I had a Cuisinart lookalike toaster for many years before it finally broke. I was happy with that and wanted the same toaster, but found that it now goes by the Waring name and misses the slot selector switch (which I hated anyway because you always forget to toggle it). back if you have ever used it). The first toaster I bought to replace my old Cuisinart was the Breville BTA830XL Die-Cast 4 Slice Long Slot Smart Toaster. I did a lot of research, read many reviews and recommendations, and took the risk of using a leverless toaster. I was wary of all this fantasy, but so many people loved this thing that I figured it might work. It went wrong. I ended up returning it after it stopped working and all the lights started flashing. Support couldn't help me and everyone who gave a bad review had the same issue with the only solution being to return it. So I returned it for a refund. However, after just over two months of almost daily use, this Waring toaster is still working. It works just as well as my old Cuisinart. There is only one thing: it hums during operation. When I press the lever, I hear a distinct buzz that lasts until the toast pops out. After my last purchase it didn't break the deal so I decided to just live with the noise. The reason I went back to this design is because I can toast slices in any bread shape including round Italian loaves, ciabatta. , homemade bread. or whatever you have. The slots are also wide enough so thick bagels won't be a problem. Love the fact that you can lift the lever up a bit after toasting to pull out a smaller slice without help. for using tools. With English muffins, for example, with that thin, smaller side of the muffin, I could even lift the lever in one quick motion to toss the bread a bit, just so I could catch it in mid-air. It's a really fun skill. :) My point is that the dial for selecting darkness is more sensitive on this toaster than on my Cuisinart as I find it around 2 for most commercial bread slices these days, but again that's not a deal breaker for me. The crumb tray slides out when you want to clean. The cord wraps under the unit and hooks around the perimeter if your toaster is too close to an outlet like mine. It will take a little time to get it right, but you'll never have to do it again if you get it right. The chrome finish is good too. You can even use it as a very basic mirror when you need to take a peek to see if there's food on your face or something. It's an expensive toaster, but if it lasts as many years as my old Cuisinart, I'm happy to pay for it to get a good, reliable toaster.
