Update: I've now learned how to do it. Back then I didn't have the tools to disassemble the entire controller. Soldering irons are only suitable for soldering, not for desoldering. It was very difficult for me to remove the joysticks from the board. It pissed me off so much I broke the controller out of frustration. After 6 hours of trying to desolder with a suction cup, that helped more than the wicks. I'm new to disassembly. I spent 6 hours trying to keep calm until I got rid of my frustration. If you're not very good at it, don't try this soldering iron.
