Bought this to put on my Chevy pickup when I was plowing the road. I understand that these cheap beacons are mostly "disposable" and I expect to have to buy a new one every year for snow season, but this is below par even for the "cheap and quick fix" range. My truck only lasted 4 days and only survived a couple of small storms, it just died. There are definitely no issues with my outlet - other similar products work fine with it (even the old cheap beacon I have in reserve doesn't work). commonly used as it is not very bright). The wiring design is very poor, and the magnet is weak in cold snowy weather. It slides and slides across the entire hood or canopy (wherever you put it). I wasn't concerned about the short cord because I have the cigarette adapter close enough to the side that it doesn't need to be tightened, but cord length will definitely be an issue for most of you. I didn't have high hopes for it - just hoping to get 4 months out of it. Instead got 4 days. I will be back and do NOT recommend it. (very bad because the shape is aerodynamic and the light was pretty bright for an economical beacon).
