Review on 🐾 Optimal Choice Lucky Champ Litter Pan by Weston Metzger

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for small cats that don't like high edges

Since having two Persian kittens we've tried 5 different litter systems. Our female didn't bother and adjusted well, but the male was picky and had erratic urination. After watching him closely for a while, I noticed that he seemed to avoid our current Omega Paw crate as he had to climb over the high ledge to get into the crate. He is a very small cat, only a year old now, weighs less than 8 pounds and is about two pounds shorter and slightly smaller than his sister since he was a short man. After watching him move his legs (it was almost like a high step and looked awkward) and how he seemed about to dig but didn't have room to do so in our current box, I started exploring and landed on them. After ordering, I put them on the table for a few days for him to look at. He climbed in and lay down a few times and I saw that he didn't have the same problems getting in and out of the box as our other one. We then replaced the old box with this one and filled each half box with 25 pounds of stuffing. Enough to match the depth of urination but not overflowing to make a mess like some reviewers I've seen photos of. A few minutes later he ran into the box and used it. He went straight in without an awkward high gear, did his job, turned, and dug for several minutes. I clean the trays morning and night and notice that he's walking more often now, so I think his inappropriate urination used to be largely due to him avoiding the tray and holding it until he couldn't wait anymore. We haven't had any further incidents since moving in, but we didn't check for towels being left on the bathroom floor. We had no problems with litter reportedly being kicked about everywhere - I think it's a combination of overflow and possibly a cat too big for the crate. We have a toilet mat out of the box and it doesn't pick up anything out of the ordinary. I also really appreciate the higher rear as male dogs tend to mess when potty trained and the breeder recommended a high side stall which was great no mess outside the stall. Wonderful product and always recommended!
