I had to put a layer of foil on the inside of my sliding glass door to protect the glass from my rescue dog's claws. When he wants to get out he knocks on the glass and I figured it would eventually get scratched. 4 mil foil cuts beautifully on my quilted mat (Olfa) and on the rotary cutter. I use distilled water in a spray bottle because our tap water is hard and can contain algae. The scraper I had from the phone's screen protector kit. I had to respray the water every time I moved the slide (which was 30 inches wide) but managed to install it myself. Looks very good. I think 4 mil is easier to work with than 2 mil. Use masking tape to remove the backing.
