I read a lot of reviews about overflowing coffee grounds and this happened to me when making a coffee pot for 10 and even 8 cups. So I read the manual and it says if you use finely ground coffee or soft water (which we do) you need a different valve. They give you a # to call or email and you can request one which they will send to you quickly and free of charge. I installed mine and had no more overflow problems. I definitely recommend this coffee maker!
