When I received the lantern, something inside rattled, after shaking, a small nut fell out. After testing, the lamp still worked, so I took it off the first time I used it. After that I disassembled the lantern to see where the nut came from. It was part of the mounting screws for the base of the hot shoe. I was able to put it back in with a pair of tweezers. It required extra maneuvering and tweezers (to reinsert and tighten the screws) to put the entire block back together. This gives me no confidence in the quality control of this product. While the inner and outer construction felt solid, albeit otherwise plastic. Another problem I encountered is the plastic base for the hot shoe. It tilts up and down, but cannot turn left or right. A ball head base type would be the best option. I would have preferred a 1/4-20 insert into the mount body instead of the bottom of the hot shoe base. The base is made entirely of plastic. If it breaks, it cannot be reattached to the camera. You get what you pay for I guess. This is a very amateur/consumer product.
