Review on πŸ”§ iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit: The Ultimate Electronics, Smartphone, Computer & Tablet Repair Kit by Chris Palmer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Huge update to an already great toolkit!

I've been using the old iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit for many years and it has never let me down. I recently upgraded to the new 2016 Pro Tech during the Black Friday sale and had some time to use it. The new iFixit 64-bit Driver Kit is by far the star of this toolbox, but I was very impressed with all of the components. See my video report for details on some changes and updates. An update I've discovered since my video review: the drill uses 6150 steel (manufacturer's website), so it contains 0.5% C, 0.8% Mn, 0.9% Cr, 0.18% V, what makes it a type of CR-V steel commonly used for knives and swords. "6150 is a fine-grain carbon-chromium alloy steel with high abrasion resistance. Very good impact strength and toughness are essential properties of this alloy, even in the heat-treated condition.” I am still amazed at the quality of the nozzle processing. Here is a list of uses I know of for some of the specialty bits not found in other kits: Screwdriver for 5.5mm Nuts - Printer and Copier Repair Wrench/Snake - Eyelets - Safety Panels, Elevators, Plumbing . Square Bits/Robertson Bits - Common in Canada/Australia JIS/Japan Industrial Standard - Used in Cameras, RC Helicopters, Drones and Other Electronics. Torx security. TR6 - Apple Mac MiniTR8 - Xbox and select HP printers, miscellaneous electronicsTR10 - Playstation and HP/Compaq computersT15 - HP/Compaq/LenovoGamebits 4.5 and 3.8 hardware - Nintendo and SegaY000 consoles/games - Apple WatchY00 - Apple -TrackpadsP2 - iPhoneP5 bottom screws - cases for MacBook P6 - batteries for MacBook
