A few differences from the previous version of this product

This model is the successor of the MLN-20 product and there are several differences. I'll check out the newer MLN-21 first. It works as a photosensitive night light that turns on in the dark and off in the light. This feature cannot be disabled. It's fairly bright, but you can dim it if it bothers you. When you flip the switch to the ON position, it also works as an emergency light - the built-in LED flashlight turns on in the event of a power failure. These functions work perfectly for me in all four devices I bought (two double packs). The device uses three rechargeable AAA nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries - an easy-open cover provides access to the batteries; but they are not sold everywhere. I have no information about the long-term reliability. People complain about three things. 1. The flip plug is thin and not suitable for some people. I see how that could happen. Insert the plug in the desired position and gently insert into the outlet. 2. The device does not stay connected to the network. For a better grip, bend the pins a little tighter or wider apart. 3. The device partially covers the other plug of a two-socket outlet, preventing other things from being connected. Yes, that's right. For me it is not a decisive factor. The previous MLN-20 model (I also have several of these) is no longer available and is a bit different. A three-position switch (OFF-LED-AUTO) controls operation. OFF = does nothing. LED = only works as an emergency light - the flashlight turns on in the event of a power failure. AUTO = both light-sensitive night light and power-sensitive emergency light work. Since my wife insists on sleeping in the dark, the one in MB is off, the MBR is in LED mode. Unlike the MLN-21, the fork is non-detachable and durable. But like the MLN-21, it partially blocks the other plug in a two-plug outlet. There is no easy open cover to access the batteries, it comes apart with four screws so I don't know if the batteries can be swapped out. I think at some point in the past one of those old blocks broke - had to take it apart to see what was inside.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power
