I used to have metal screw caps with a similar design. These didn't see the end of the year, some didn't see the summer. This glass solar LED light lasted all four seasons without bringing them inside (although the winter was mild, it wasn't completely dry). I just bought another set for other areas of the yard. The metal style I used to have is rusty and I love the look, but only one remains of the six I had. All six of this top-of-the-line plastic model still work. Two things: First, it absorbs water (none of which is more than an inch). It never got in the way of function, thereby adding some interesting nuances of light. I don't mind the water and it's easy enough to unscrew the lid and pour it out. And most of the blocks are placed in an area that only gets direct sunlight in the morning - by midday the sun disappears behind the roofline. However, they are well lit into the early hours and I've seen the lights on until 3am. UPDATE: Of the 18 I have, 12 are still working and survived their second winter outside (Southeast Massachusetts). Just ordered another batch to replace the 6 I lost over the winter. Absolutely worth the money.
