Be prepared that you will have to buy software.

I bought this player hoping it would do what it was supposed to do. The device was never recognized by my MacBook Pro. I bought both Blu-ray and DVD player software, so neither will be received or read by this external device. I will return immediately. If my MacBook Pro doesn't recognize it as an external drive, it's probably junk. I use this computer daily to process files and media of all types and sizes.
