First of all for how much this thermometer costs, it is very good value and I would buy it again. I've tested accuracy with boiling water and swirling ice in a cup of water - both are essentially at sea level. He showed F 210* in boiling water and F 34* in ice water - almost perfect. WAYYYY more accurate than the sensors that came with my Pit Boss pellet grill. Now I can taste smoked meats without worrying about someone getting sick or cuts drying up. Bluetooth connection works great except for one big flaw. The app "disconnects" from the device every time the screen turns off or you are on a call with your phone or use other apps - hence the 4 stars instead of 5. This is a particular pain when the alarm is set for a specific temperature. The workaround is to use a "Keep Screen" app that will prevent the phone's screen timeout while it's in use and dedicate your device solely to using the app, but of course this is a huge waste of battery and makes your phone also unusable for others to use during cooking. I only use an old phone as the only data connection you need is Wi-Fi for the app and keep it connected. But others may not have this option, so think before you buy. I paid with a $3 "Instant Voucher", which is hard to fault given the accuracy and ease of use. If you can live with the inconvenience of having to constantly reconnect the device when your phone rings or the screen goes black, or have an alternative device that you can use, then feel free to take it.
