This was just what I needed to keep my phone safe in the car, but I was still able to see notifications when they arrived. The fact that it's a charger is a bonus in my opinion. I just wanted a secure system to mount my phone on the dash! The instructions in the attached documents say the magnetic ring needs to be attached to the case from the outside, but I think it will work if you put it under the case as well. Clamping and display angles are adjustable for all vehicles. Great little accessory!
