Update April 2020: When I bought these in 2016 they replaced a pair that had lasted me 20 years. I don't think Minnetonka created this pair. This vintage pair had a single piece of leather that went up the sides. It is important that there are no seams on the underside of the sole. This does not apply to this model of Minnetonka slippers. It is not surprising that after many years of wear, the seams along the bottom fail and the sole turns into a flap. If you think wearing slippers for four years is okay, consider buying a pair. The first review addresses a number of issues/quirks worth noting. I haven't decided yet whether I'll buy a second pair of these or go the other way. A slightly different design, where the bottom of the sole sticks up a quarter or a half inch at the sides, means less fraying of the stitching and a much longer shoe life. You can decide what is right for you. Original review (posted 2016) I bought these to replace moccasin slippers I bought over 20 years ago. My wife got mad at me for thinking of patching up an old pair with new rawhide laces. I got her point and did a little research on replacements. After reading reviews on many products, I finally bought them. I'm happy with my purchase, but there are a few things that might help if you're considering a similar purchase. Size: Most shoes I wear fit 9.5D or 10D. So on average my foot is slightly smaller than size 10 and medium wide. I bought size 10 in this product. When you first receive it, you may find that the shoe is quite tight. I waited to write this review because I expected the shoe to stretch and it does stretch a little. Putting on and taking off shoes becomes easier. However, when I wear them, I don't usually wear socks. If you expect to wear a sock, consider the next size up. Provenance of Materials and Production: When you read Minnetonka, or maybe I should say when I read Minnetonka, I think of some Native American tribe somewhere in the north Midwest, more specifically around Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. You may think that this is the place and who they are from. At some point that may have been true, and it's possible that these moccasins were once made in the USA. This is no longer the case. Read the label of the pair I received, sheepskin and "fur" lining from China. The rest are "artificial materialsβ. The shoes themselves are made in the Dominican Republic. So if you think you're helping to get a Native American job, it seems a little unlikely. Features: When you read the comments on a review without holding the product in your hands, sometimes you can't quite understand what the reviewer is saying. I read a comment that it was very difficult to distinguish the left shoe from the right. Having received them, I can confirm this. If there is a difference, it really isn't/wasn't clear. After wearing them several times, especially if you always wear the same shoes on the same foot, they will change and become different, or you will find that the two shoes are not the same, and identify pairs of shoes and feet. That is not important. I love these slippers. They are softer and warmer than the pair they replaced. It remains to be seen whether they will last longer than two decades. I'm not sure I can last that long. :-)) I hope it helps.
