I just got these today, and wore them to take the dogs out for a walk. They do make you sweat! I think they will work. They fit tight, so if you want them for compression, get your true size. If you want them a bit looser, go one size up. I’m 5’6”, 120 pounds, and I got a Small. The one thing I wish they would do is place a zipper on the side of the pants, to put them on more easily. The pants are made of a thin neoprene, (the purple waist band is neoprene too) and the crotch is a polyester material, preventing noise when you walk. If you have ever worn regular neoprene pants, you know how noisy they can be. These pants look and feel like regular leggings. They are actually very flattering. I didn’t notice any weird smell when I took them out of the package. There is a slight smell of neoprene, if you really try to sniff them up close, but that is to be expected. Most definitely, you would want to wash these leggings in cold water by hand, and DO NOT put them in the dryer! I might get another pair to switch off.
