Review on EBL 8 Pack Lithium AA Batteries - Powering High-Tech Devices With 3000MAh Capacity At A Constant 1.5V by Bryan Aleman

Once good, now unreliable?

I bought an 8-pack of these a couple of years ago to replenish my Blinks (I have several, so used them all up over the year following. Longevity as it should be in harsh weather. Bought a replacement 8-pack in March 2022 and put on the shelf. I did not have a tester, but no reason to assume these would be different from the first one. They are supposed to have a LONG shelf life, after all. Battery failed (not weak, failed) this month and was going to replace the pair so opened up this case on the shelf. Since spring I have acquired a very good battery tester, so I checked the failed (dead) and new batteries. Every single battery in the "new" case failed the tester -- badly. Checked known good batteries, and tested solid OK. Plugged in the batteries anyway, and the Blink status popped up as weak/replace. These should have been good on the shelf for years. There is no way to check manufacturing date that I can tell, so it is up to the seller to rotate out their old stock -- not SELL IT after it has sat on the shelf for too long. Either that, or own up to the shelf life not being long at all -- and stop selling these. I don't write reviews often, but this really frosts me. It is unacceptable quality control, unacceptable stock control, or both. And I'm stuck with them because the return window is long closed. I always tested batteries in the past, since they worked with my older tester -- and I've never had any not pass acceptance, had good luck with EBL, and had no reason to expect an entire bad set from them (or anyone) unless they had an expiration date that was overdue. This has no date and promises the moon and stars. Very unhappy and will get a different brand next time.

Pros
  • Wide Compatibility: The EBL lithium AA batteries are compatible with a wide range of devices, including cameras, remote controls, and toys.
Cons
  • The high capacity may lead to a higher price tag
