I wanted to try making jewelry but didn't want to spend a lot of money and then I realized I *really* didn't want to make jewelry. This kit is perfect! There is a good range of bead sizes, allowing for a variety of jewelry pieces while still combining well with one another. The colors are very nice - not too muted, not too bright. The book is pretty simple. It shows the layout of each piece and then on the back you indicate how the clasps will be finished for you. After seeing the photos it was easy for me to figure it out, but I'm creative and can "just wave my hand" when needed. If you're looking for a very detailed explanation, this isn't it. For the price, however, it's a good entry point. I was able to make 2 pairs of earrings, 2 bracelets and 1 necklace in just a few hours (I was distracted by the kids!) and I'm very happy with the result. Bottom line: if you're new and looking for a way to test the waters, this is a great way to do it. If you need a very detailed user manual, it probably won't help you.
