I built a Windows 10 NAS using an old Intel motherboard with onboard RAID and 5 SATA ports. I used all 5 SATA ports for a RAID array and put Windows 10 on a USB3 stick to boot. As expected, the system started up and was painfully slow to respond, but as a NAS it performed very well. Then I decided that the system can do much more (Core-i5, 16GB RAM), but the performance of Windows on a USB drive was just not acceptable. So I got one of these and paired it with a Transcend 64GB Transcend 64GB SATA III 6Gb/s MTS800 80mm M.2 SSD (TS64GMTS800) and the results were better than I expected! When using Reflect to clone a USB drive to an SSD, Windows 10 recognized the device without any problems and the new system drive booted without any problems. I couldn't be happier and the performance is amazing! So good that I plan to install this combination on a few more systems.
