Review on 📸 Plustek ephoto Z300 Photo Scanner - Ultra Fast 4x6 Scan in 2 Seconds, Auto Crop and Deskew for Mac and PC by Roberto Manzer

I bought this scanner to scan/digitize thousands of photos and several of my family's scrapbooks. For the most part I'm happy with this scanner! It was shipped very quickly and was well packaged. The kit includes a nice sheet that provides detailed information on how to start scanning quickly and easily. It looks good and feels fairly sturdy and high quality without being overly heavy. However, the scanner (and the software that comes with it) tends to be quite finicky. Sometimes when I scan a photo I leave the scanner for a few minutes while I remove the photo and then try to scan another photo, it doesn't scan. A blue light means it's ready to scan, but when I try to insert a photo it doesn't. I have to turn the scanner off and on again, sometimes twice. It's not a big deal, but it takes a while and gets a little annoying. I always feel like I'm in a hurry to scan things as quickly as possible so I don't turn them off and on again. The software is good for basic things like rotating and cropping photos, but nothing more. I don't like the fact that you scan your photos, need to click the "Save" button in the software and THEN they will be saved to your computer. I've had several situations where I scanned 45+ photos, clicked save, and then the program crashed, the photos disappeared, and I had to rescan all those photos. Not funny. :(PROS: - Scans photos and documents well - Quality is good. - It's pretty fast! You can view photos and documents quickly. - You don't have to press any buttons or anything to start scanning a photo. Just place Your object into the scanner and it will be drawn in automatically.- It's pretty quiet. There's a little noise during the scanning process, but it's not too loud.- It's light and has a handle on the back, which is easy to grasp. Very easy to move and use in different places around the house. - It doesn't hurt the eyes :) Cons: - Can be picky (see photos). 2nd paragraph above) - It is very difficult to scan your photos/documents directly. They often scan at odd angles. The software has a random feature that you can try to fix, but it doesn't work very well. I find it easier (but longer) to load each photo into Photoshop to straighten it. - The software is not very good. - You MUST use the software to save the photos. I wish I could just scan photos directly to a file on my computer, but I can't - you have to go through the software. SUMMARY: This is a good scanner but can be finicky. So if you're looking for the perfect scanner without frustration, I wouldn't recommend it. Overall I love this scanner and I'm glad I bought it! But it's not for everyone.
