Not the best scanner in the world, but good enough!

I bought this scanner to scan/digitize thousands of photos and several of my family's scrapbooks. For the most part I'm happy with this scanner! It was shipped very quickly and was well packaged. The kit includes a nice sheet that provides detailed information on how to start scanning quickly and easily. It looks good and feels fairly sturdy and high quality without being overly heavy. However, the scanner (and the software that comes with it) tends to be quite finicky. Sometimes when I scan a…

Great for digitizing old prints!

Incredibly fast scan at 300, and in my visual comparison of scans of new prints on a 24" HD computer screen, the results at 300 look as good, if not better, than results at much slower (but still acceptably fast) Resolution 600. This is the first scanner that my wife found so easy that she could handle it on her own when she first sat down. A few tips: 1. Before turning on the scanner for the first time, make sure you have removed the tape and foam under the front bezel. Gently pull the bar…

This scanner is a disaster.

I originally gave this scanner 5 stars but said it too soon. After scanning a few hundred photos, I noticed that the last few hundred had an orange line running down the middle of each photo! Too bad I didn't check the photos along the way, but I had thousands to scan and didn't want to open every photo after I scanned them. Too much time. I called support and they directed me to calibrate which I kept doing, until the line stopped appearing. Fast forward two days later when the scanner…
