Review on ๐Ÿ“ธ Plustek ephoto Z300 Photo Scanner - Ultra Fast 4x6 Scan in 2 Seconds, Auto Crop and Deskew for Mac and PC by Michael Jennings

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for digitizing old prints!

Incredibly fast scans at 300 resolution and in my visual comparison of scans of new prints on a 24" HD computer screen the results at 300 look as good if not better than results at much slower ones (but still acceptable). fast) ) resolution 600. This is the first scanner that my wife has found so easy that she can handle it on her own when she first sits down at it. Be sure to remove the packing tape and foam from under the front bar. Gently pull the bar away from the machine, it will swing down and out of the way. Then put it back in. Do this before attempting a calibration. 2. Perform side-by-side calibrations before starting a scan. Before proper calibration, I got closely spaced colored vertical lines throughout the scanned output image. The calibration function is hidden behind a question mark icon in the top right corner of the software screen. te The calibration sheet can be used in the future. you may need it.3. Use the JPEG setting "Maximum Quality" (100%) for the best scanning results. The resulting file sizes are modest by my modern standards, even at 600.4 resolution. Settings (gear icon) allows you to choose between a resolution of 300 and 600 and to pre-select a folder to automatically save each scan. But you still have to select "Save" (the disk icon) for each scan. Scans are not automatically saved when scanned; The "Auto" part automatically selects the correct folder to save each scan before starting the scan. So far the auto crop/auto align feature has worked very well. This scanner is excellent for digitizing many old photos. It works very quickly, easily and gives high quality results at 300 resolution. No, the proprietary software required is not equivalent to Photoshop's editing capabilities. But what you lose in flexibility and quality of digital editing, you gain back in the form of huge dividends in speed and ease of use.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Great Price
