Super light, super comfortable, great price.

As soon as I took the G435 out of the box I was struck by how light they are. I like the design of the matte black plastic version. I think that's in line with Logitech style but more subtle. Although the set is primarily made out of plastic (22% recycled for those who appreciate it), it's fairly durable and I feel like it can take a fall or two. The headband is covered with fabric and has no padding and is very flexible. The retro-style yellow buttons and exposed wires make them look a bit like a toy, but that's not enough to say they're just for kids. The fabric-covered memory foam ear pads are quite soft. The pads are removable and washable if necessary. The cup slider has good resistance. Unfortunately, they don't fold and the cups don't swivel, making them a bit awkward to carry around or wear around your neck. Now they are incredibly comfortable on my head and medium sized ears. Because there are no pads on the headband and the clamping force is light, I did experience some slight pressure after using it for a couple of hours, especially at the top, but I never felt any pain or real discomfort. The ear pads are breathable so my ears never get hot or sweaty. The keys are conveniently located, easy to learn and responsive. The headset charges via USB-C. Battery life seems decent, although I'm used to a little more from other headsets. However, they can be used while charging. The G435 now offers USB Lightspeed and Bluetooth (5.0?) connectivity, making it more versatile. They paired easily with both options and maintained a good connection. I didn't notice any lag or sync issues at all. Unfortunately, you can't use both features at the same time or support auto-switching, which would be helpful when taking calls while gaming on PC. It's also odd that there's no wired 3.5mm or USB option at all, as they're only 100% wireless. Since kids might like them, I'm glad there's a volume limit option to protect their hearing. Dual beamforming microphones are great for online gaming and taking calls. I had no breaks or distortions. In the absence of an external microphone, I think Logitech has done a great job here. The sound quality of the 40mm drivers is satisfactory. With the default Bluetooth and PC settings, I found the sound to be somewhat neutral, where the bass isn't as pronounced and punchy, but strong enough to add some richness to the sound. The mids are well represented, clear and detailed. The highs were also on par with the mids without getting harsh or fatiguing. I didn't find beat-based EDM and hip-hop as entertaining as I'd like, but everything else was fine. The ear pads are designed to absorb ambient noise, but are very weak in my opinion. However, it can be good for parents as some people don't like it when their kids are unaware of its use. Another good thing is that the openness of the earcups allows the sound more channel separation and soundstage, which is very helpful in determining where and at what distance noise is coming. With Dolby Atmos, Windows Sonic or Tempest 3D AudioTech (Sony's version of 3D), the sound becomes much better and more enjoyable, especially when watching movies or playing non-competitive games (I use stereo for competitive FPS matches). Unfortunately, the G435 isn't compatible with the Logitech PC app, so no equalizer or presets are available. Ultimately I think this is a great option for people with small heads and especially for children. They're easy to connect, have the versatility of wireless, weigh next to nothing and sound pretty good - all for a very reasonable price. I will definitely use them as an extra set!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly
