To be honest the asking price is a lot higher than I usually pay for a timer. But like I said, this thing is cool. read. All it takes is a flick of your wrist as you turn the knob forward or backward to set when you want your timer to call you back for the reason you set it. You can set it up to 99 minutes and 55 seconds. It is both a countdown and a countdown timer. To count UP, set it to 0000 and press the start button. To count DOWN, set it to the target minute number and press the start button. The beeper was very, very loud, I found it loud enough to hear in another room. According to the product page, the volume is between 60db and 80db. Mounted on my exhaust fan above the stove, I used my phone's dB meter and measured 58 dB at 2 feet away and about the same at 5-6 feet away; ie with a new Maxell battery installed. I want to get 80 dB from her. Only one AAA battery with the positive end is required. I say this because it contradicts how I would (and did) put the battery in (don't do it, it was very difficult to get it back).
