Fragile to the point of being unusable

The same manufacturer also made a set of rivets that I recently bought from them so I shouldn't be surprised they're junk too . The first problem I had (which is possibly my fault) was interpreting the pictures to show the outside of the button as the decorative side, but with a hole in the middle like some jean buttons. That's not the case. If, like me, you see a beautiful star pattern and decide you want to display it on the outside, you will be disappointed. All decorations on these items are for the inside. Nobody sees that. Is always. Except you. Once in a while. I'm not saying nice latches and rosettes are bad and fun, but if I needed a simple button I would just use what I already have. This works better. So tools. Didn't hit much. I've used it on both fabric and leather and it's barely broken through (with a hammer). I ended up using a sharp awl on my project which was doll jeans. The anvil is too big. The setter was too small. So small, in fact, that even the fabric left a perfect little indentation on the front of the button. Instead I used my Dritz rivet kit which worked much better. However. These things don't catch very well. They tap and don't hold. To get a strong hold I twisted the bushing as shown in one of these pictures. It buckled so badly that the pole didn't fit. The second photo shows I was just starting to think about how to rip it off as it literally crumbled in my hand. So if you use them on fabric, don't worry about ruining the fabric as the material will fall off immediately if you look at it from the side. So I ended up using the Dritz stuff I already had but was hoping to set aside something nicer. Study me I guess. In short, if you like the design, you won't see them in action. While it doesn't matter, these things are about as durable as a wet toilet paper roll.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
