I got it working and I'm glad I didn't have to go to the shop for a weld repair or buy a new cat.
worked for me when the cat flange rusted on a well maintained 2000 Subaru Outback. I had to cut off part of the cat heat shield to fit it. Saved the day as far as I can tell.
