Review on 🐴 HDR Pro 5 Point Elastic Breastplate for Cob Horses - Oak Bark Finish by John Brazington

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nicely made piece but too small for my 16.3 horse. ☹️

Beautiful breast collar. The leather is thick and has a nice weight and is conditioned but not overly so. I expect break-in time to be minimal and that after a little use, cleaning and conditioning as part of your normal cleaning routine, the part will soften even further. The haircut is beautifully finished and well done. Sheepskin pads are thick and seem durable. The buckles work smoothly and are in no way inferior to the bib in terms of quality. It exceeded my expectations in every respect in terms of quality. Unfortunately it didn't fit my horse. I've read reviews and received complaints that it walks with a long stride (haha) as I'm trying it on a 16.3 gaited horse. He's a bigger boy, but not a giant, and doesn't create the width problems you might find suited to Project X or stockier warmbloods. Despite my optimism, I couldn't even get it to a rough level and was very disappointed that it wasn't going to work. I contacted the seller to arrange an exchange for the next size up (they were quick to respond) but was shocked to learn they don't offer this in a larger size. They should (!) as this seems to be a fairly common size that horse owners want, with a corresponding market demand for the intended use. I packed it up and sent it back; Revain refunded the purchase price in the nanosecond that UPS scanned the package. I'm still disappointed that the landing was so small. It may have worked on a skinny 16.1 or 16.2 Thoroughbred, but I highly doubt it would work on a hefty 16+ hh Warmblood (draft or draft X = just didn't).
