Generally easy to apply. But this hair chalk is more like rubbing lipstick through your hair than chalk. It's not dry, it's a little sticky. The texture gets better as it dries, but it's still obvious that there is something in the hair and the hair isn't soft to the touch. This is good for temporary hair coloring when there is no option for coloring. My daughter donates her hair every two years and dyed hair cannot be donated, so this is a good option for her. We used this on her brother and it's much easier on short hair and doesn't feel as sticky. The colors are vibrant on blonde hair. Not sure I would buy this again, maybe next time I'll try hair chalk that's drier than chalk to compare.
