Review on Camco 44133 Screen Door Closure by Cameron Kennedy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well on my 2003 Trail-lite

I installed one of these springs on the underside of the door. As others have said, I seem strong enough to close the door without slamming it. If you hold the door open just a few inches, it won't latch. But when you open it, as if going out, it closes tight and the latch snaps. I think that installing a second spring will cause the door to slam too hard. But it's good to have a second pen in case you need it. I installed it on the outside of the screen door (where the hinge attaches) using an existing screw. I think I measured 9 inches (as directed in the instructions) and drilled a hole to allow the spring to fit between the screen door and the outer door when both are closed. - to be clear - when you stand outside the motorhome and the screen door is closed you can see the spring going from the hinge on the screen door to the door frame. The pictures in the directions seemed a bit confusing to me. Rather, they want you to attach the spring to the inside of the door. But then you have the spring dragging along the frame when you open the door, scratching the frame and probably making a lot of noise. My installation method is silent (the spring doesn't rub against anything) and works well. Just make sure there is adequate clearance between your exterior door and the screen door before installing the spring. When I get a chance I'll take a picture and post it. ***UPDATE*** I've added an image with notes. the camper was out for 5 days and the spring worked great, just 1 spring is enough to close the screen door and it even closes the screen and outside door combination. (doesn't snap tight enough, but closes). I think I'll leave it as is and leave the second feather as a reserve.
