I bought these to try out how I would like the side mirrors with the thought that I would swap out for more expensive mirrors later if I liked them. The looks of these mirrors are pretty good and they look good on the bike. They're smaller than standard, but that's to be expected from an end mirror. I gave them 4 stars for 2 reasons. First, the reflective surface of the mirror has a small flaw on the edge on one of them. Not big enough to cause usage issues, but will likely bother me over time. Second, how should they be mounted on a standard Yamaha handlebar? The rudders have a threaded weight in the end headstock. The mirror clamp is not large enough to clamp the weight, so it must be removed to use the expandable bracket that comes with the mirror. The rear grips hang from the rear weights (they do not sit flush with the handlebar ends, but protrude about 1 inch from the handlebars) so you need to be aware of the clearance when installing the transom mounts. They should be far enough apart that a mirror can be mounted on top of them, but far enough apart that they sit snugly against the inside of the handlebars. This is especially important on the choke side. Be sure to twist and release the throttle a few times to make sure it's not hanging openly on the transom or bracket. The last inch of the grip now has virtually nothing underneath as the mount is much lighter than the weight of the stock. To be honest, I didn't notice that on my first trip with them. Some much more expensive mirrors and handguards come with a Yamaha bar end weight adapter which looks more secure. I think for the price they will work well in the short term. I'm not sure I intend to leave her "forever". I'll let you know if I have any trouble with them for the next few hundred miles. A trick to tighten the spreader cap without ruining the paintwork in the visible area. Grip the transom mounting area with a pair of vises while tightening the jackbolt. If the vise ruins the finish, you won't see it once the mirror is in place, and I couldn't find another way to hold the mount to tighten it the way I wanted.
