I've been looking for a good Lego organization system and finally found what we think is a winner. It's an expensive system (like Lego). We considered sorting so that all the pieces in the set fit together, but we really thought Lego was the most fun when you could create your own inventions and mix and match the pieces from the sets. We've tried plastic storage boxes and zippered bags, but none of them worked as well. While they're definitely on the more aggressive side of organizational systems, they're great for sorting out small pieces that can be easily found again when you want to build a specific set using Lego instructions. The fact that you can move individual boxes is very useful when you want to reorganize rows or add new items that work best for a specific location. If you have too many items of the same type, you can also consider sorting by color. The drawers have a simple stopper system to prevent them from falling out easily (a tiny tab that sticks out to prevent the drawer from being pulled all the way out unless you tilt the drawer slightly), which helps there the drawers slide out very easily. If you want to move the entire cabinet, simply tilt it to snap the drawers back into place. A slight forward tilt will cause all of your drawers to slide out (and hopefully not fall out completely, just wiggle a bit). Attached is a photo from his side. We also bought matching cabinets with all the large drawers and drawers of different sizes, but I think this one will be the most useful.
