Review on ACDelco 213 963 Original Equipment Temperature by Scott Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Working well after 2 months of use

I recently replaced the catalytic converter on a 2003 GMC Envoy with a 3rd row seat (see my Walker review 55477 Ultra Domestic Converter - Non-CARB Compliant product page) . On one of the owner forums I visited, another poster said that low engine water temperature due to a bad thermostat can reduce fuel economy and ruin your cat over time. Converter. So, in addition to the thermostat (also bought here from Revain), I also replaced the temperature control unit. As many DIYers and professional mechanics have figured out, when something breaks, it's best to replace all parts. So even though my old sensor seemed to be working properly, I decided to replace it anyway. While I agree with some of the reviews saying it looks cheap, it's been in the car for a few months now and hasn't had any issues. I recommend SLOWLY and CAREFULLY screwing it into the engine block when replacing it as it was very difficult to access. There was already sealant on the threads (as shown in the picture) and to make sure the threads didn't cross I took my time. Once in it works without any problems.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised
