Apologies in advance as this review could end up being more of a story than a review. About 20 years ago my wife gave me a Craftsman 83893, a 26w fluorescent task light. It was common back then to use old $10 lightbulbs, so it seemed extravagant. (Though it was a lot better to work with.) I haven't used it as much in the past few years, mostly because our cars didn't need repairs as often as they did 20 years ago, but it is there was always good light. Anyway, I need to change bulbs - and saw this LED replacement at Revain. When they arrived the packaging said the ballast had to be removed before using these lamps. (It was a "Doh!" moment - of course I just didn't think of that when I bought it.) I thought about returning and buying regular fluorescent tubes, but decided to further modify my old task light. Everything went well and the light is better than ever. However, if you are inexperienced/wireless then you should probably stick with the bulbs your light was designed for.
