The original product had a lower melting point so was very smooth and hydrated like a cream but had a soft sheen that didn't feel like sheen. After it was washed off my lips felt more hydrated for a long time like we have fresh and healthy skin. This new material is more waxy and appears to be trying to repel moisture as a water barrier. The downside is that once it's removed, the lips don't feel moisturized or nourished.
