I got them because my ear hole was trying to close up because I won't be wearing earrings for a long time. I wanted something small/unobtrusive that I could wear comfortably all day and sleep with. Overall I'm happy with these spikes, however there are 2 things I find difficult or insufficient. First, the posts are short and barely fit in my earlobe. People with thick earlobes may have trouble with this. Second, a flat part is difficult to screw on and off. I twisted them tight once and had a hard time getting my fingers on them to loosen them. On the other hand, I also left them screwed on too loosely and they came loose and I almost lost my earring. I don't want to discourage anyone from buying these cleats. They're great for the price and you have a lot of colors to choose from. I just want to list a few things that people should consider before buying. I feel like if I had thinner earlobes and smaller fingers they would be great - no problem. I also think these would be great studs for a cartilage piercing at the top of the ear.
