Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhance Your Scion xA & xB 2004-06 with the Rostra 250-1755 Complete Cruise Control Kit by Michael Vargas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly! The instructions could be improved.

I installed this on a 2006 Scion XB with manual transmission. I've had it for a few days and I really like it. Four stars instead of five because the instructions could be improved. For example, I would have liked the photos in the instructions to be a little clearer, particularly the procedure for attaching the throttle cable. The instructions also say to connect the cable to the neutral safety switch, but elsewhere it says this is not necessary for vehicles with manual transmissions. If you take your time, everything will become clearer. Now that I've done it, I could do it again in half the time or less. All in all it took me about 4 hours. Being 6ft 7in I removed the driver's seat which helped me lay on my back and get a good view under the dash. It's also important to eliminate most of the cable slack with a small screw on the grommet so the controller responds quickly when the button is pressed. I noticed that other reviewers complained about the delay between pressing the button and engaging the cruise control. I bet they didn't remove more than 1/10 inch of cable slack as instructed. Although I figured it out, more specific instructions on how to do this would be helpful. I think the instructions might have been written by someone very familiar with the procedure. It would be helpful for that person or team if a newbie like me did this and provided feedback. Also, the diagrams of the various electrical distribution blocks are confusing. This could have been avoided if you had specific instructions for the vehicle model instead of information that is not accurate.

Pros
  • Slow down or accelerate without pedaling.
Cons
  • poorly thought out
