This unit works as advertised with silent iPod docks only. If your speakers (or other device) have buttons or other controls designed to control your docked iPod, this Bluetooth adapter will NOT be recognized by that speaker/device. I bought it hoping to use it on the Sony bookshelf. Stereo with an old school 30 pin iPod dock. This stereo has a manual remote control that controls the iPod when connected to the dock. This bluetooth adapter is not recognized when connected to the stereo docking station. It works great with Philips AM/FM clock radio with dock that doesn't try to control the iPod.
