I'm wearing this inside my Scorpion riding flannel shirt with armor pockets on the elbows, shoulders and back. I love my riding flannel, it's already saved me a bit of abrasion, it's very strong, durable, warm and has a casual look, not like a riding jacket. This back protector is much thicker than my other armor as it is designed to protect the spine. I have never tested the effectiveness of this backplate and hope I never get the chance, but it offers peace of mind. Get this when you customize your own riding jacket or shirt. However, note that it is quite large and requires a large armor pouch. I think it's designed to work with other Scorpion gear. It sucks when you're sitting on a chair with it on your bike, it's very uncomfortable.
