Review on General Electric WR9X502 Defrost Timer by Kerry Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy DIY project and I'm NOT that comfortable

This fixed my General Electric GTL17JBSERBS refrigerator. This part doesn't seem cheap either. I had no idea what to do until I did a little research. The difficulty is to find out why the defrost does not work. The system consists of three parts: thermostat, heating element and defrost timer. I found that you can manually set the timer to defrost mode. There is no need to disassemble anything - you can translate the timer directly from the refrigerator with a screwdriver. I advanced it until the compressor and fan are off - which means the fridge is in defrost mode. After I did this, the defrost system kicked in (I could feel the heat on the back of the freezer). This indicates that the thermostat and heating element are working. And there was no timer! So I bought a timer and installed it and now the fridge is working fine.
