It just works - it's what you need

One USB port became 4. I use an external keyboard (I'm better at typing), an external mouse (much more control for Visio and others), my phone charger and my Altec Lansing Baby Boom (for music) from a single PC USB port via this device. No negative impact on the performance of anything. Perfect. Maybe I should have gotten one with more ports? It just works! That's what you want from him.
