I needed to remotely activate video start/stop on my Canon 550D/T2i, so I took a chance using this remote control, although many people said the Video activation would not work because video is not activated by pressing the shutter button. When I received the remote control and took it out of the plastic case, it was covered in some gritty dust that was difficult to shake off, especially on the rubber button. I don't know what it was, but it was all over the console and it took compressed air to permanently remove. That's why I gave 4 and not 5 stars. After cleaning, I installed the camera and pressed the button on the remote control, and VIOLA! Remote start and stop video. Here's what I did to get this working with my Rebel T2i/EOS 550D video: 1. Make sure the camera is in "Video" mode.2. In the menu on the first screen, set the "Remote Control” option to "Enable”.3. Go to the sixth menu screen (the first one with the wrench) and set the Auto Power Off option to Off.4. Exit menu.5. Switch to still mode (not video mode).6. Press the left navigation button to enter the timer.7. Select "Self Timer/Remote” and then "Set”.8. Test the start/stop video. I expect it will work for other cameras like the 550D/T2i, but it works perfectly for mine.
