Review on OGIO 122102_03 Black Baja Hydration by Antonio Ashton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The locking mechanism of the hydration bladder broke on the first use.

I like the design of this bag, the position of the pockets and the straps, but the included camera (as others have reported) is either (a) not well constructed to emphasize that locking mechanism, or (b) have a great design that gives way to insufficient polymer blend for the blue parts of the locking mechanism. After my first partial fill (up to 2L only), I carefully locked the levers while continuing to push on the main lock "bar". , and was startled when one of the four locking lugs (the part of the blue mechanism that moves against the closing control levers) ripped off my bladder and rumbled into my sink. I have yet to contact Ogio to find out how much friction there will be to getting a replacement, but at least the fluid stayed in place during my first ride - possibly from trying to keep the bag upright hold when I'm not wearing them. Since then I've been using a bubbleless bag as I prefer not to roll the dice until I need to.

Pros
  • Ergonomically padded back with directed airflow
Cons
  • No automatic controls
