I looked at almost all of these devices and most of them had too many reports of sound quality problems. I didn't want to convince the number of bits or the higher price. One reviewer here (Stephen J. Boone) helped the most, but others have taken it into account. So I got it and the sound in my Sennheiser headphones is perfect. I recently bought Neumi BS5 speakers and an Aiyima A07 mini amp for my 2019 iMac - and am very happy with this purchase. My headphone jack is on the back of the monitor and I connect it to an amplifier. I could use the jsaux device to power the amp (which I did), but I dedicate it to my headphones for easier access. I use VLC for my Music app and I block the Apple Music app (with noTunes (download from GitHub)) because it doesn't really do everything I want it to and it's nasty, stiff and uncustomizable. I also just bought a USB 3 hub (SmartQ H302) which arrived at the same time as the jsaux device. I have a jsaux audio adapter connected to a usb hub. The hub (and iMac) use USB 3.1, but the jsaux device runs at USB 2 speeds (which is good). The jsaux device can be bought with a USB-A port ($10) or a USB-C port ($15), so I'm not wasting a USB-C/Thunderbolt port or $5 must (and my two USB-C ports are already installed). use). Regardless, each method obviously uses the bandwidth of USB 2. Below is system information showing that both the jsaux device (China) and my new USB hub use Realtek (Taiwan) chips. red (both USB-A types). I'm listening to the second one now and it sounds wonderful, just like the first one. I noticed that there were 2 new reviews in the last week and they were negative. One refers to using it with a Mac Mini - all sorts of crazy things happen. I don't know what to do with it. Another complains about the microphone aspect (this seems to be a common complaint with almost every brand I can remember reading reviews about). I have not tested the microphone function and I may not care. But I do have a large microphone - one with a thick plug, although I should have the necessary mini-adapter - but it's tucked away in a jam-packed box of audio gear, so I'm in no rush to try it. My iMac's built-in microphone is at the bottom center of the screen and could use some improvement, so an external microphone might be important one day. When two jsaux audio adapters are connected to my USB hub, they are indistinguishable in the audio settings panel, both just say: TX-Hifi Type_C Audio. I have to guess the right choice. In System Report->Hardware->USB they are also shown as identical (not surprising), but in ->Hardware->Audio TX-Hifi Type_C Audio is shown three times when two of them are connected - remove one of them. them, and only one appears - this is Apple's error.]% system_profiler SPUSBDataType USB 3.1 Bus: Host Controller Driver: AppleIntelCNLUSBXHCI PCI Device ID: 0xa36d PCI Version ID: 0x0010 PCI Vendor ID : 0x8086 USB 3.0 4-Port Hub: Product ID : 0x0411 Vendor ID: 0x0bda (Realtek Semiconductor Corp.)
