First I use a very heavy bow metal tripod with a very strong and durable head. I knew there would be some trade-offs from this to a CF tripod, but I have a few issues that I didn't think I needed to address. Overall this CF tripod looks pretty good, everything feels pretty tight and there is no play in the joints. The lifting mechanism to adjust the leg angle is a little PITA to pull out at times if you already have the camera installed. I don't like that there is no "quick release" for the mounting plate, I don't like turning the screw to free it. My biggest problem is the ball head. Not sure if all of them do or just this one as it's the first to be used, but the ball head has significant play. Even if you tighten it all the way, the camera shakes and jumps slightly when you press the shutter button. I take a lot of composite photos and take multiple shots of the same subject and I was concerned about that so felt like I needed to use a delay or a remote shutter release. I think it will work for what it is because I'm tired of lugging my big heavy gear around trips and events, but I can still use the old bow for my composite shots.
