Bought for 4 and 5 year olds, they are a bit big and chunky but seem waterproof and comfortable. My oldest daughter wears them every day because they are so comfortable. They used them for rain hikes, bike rides in the rain, mushroom picking in the mud, and snowshoeing. They continue to hold up well and I expect to eventually be passed on to my 18 month old son. Outstanding quality for the price.
