When my trusty old DMM (a Kelvin Pro 400, bought in 1990) started showing signs of imminent trouble a few months ago, I began looking for a new gauge with similar capabilities, although I knew I wouldn't go something in the price range of Fluke Flowmeter. Most meters include a basic set of functions such as voltage, resistance, and current measurements with manual or auto ranging. The real fun begins when you compare the "extra" features each meter adds and decide which one has what you need/want without paying for a bunch of extras that you probably won't be using. Based on reviews here and recommendations from trusted web sources. I was ready to use the Extech EX330 but then I found this VC99 and I'm glad I gave the Proster a try - I like what I'm seeing so far. In addition to the usual voltage, resistance and current measurement functions, diode test, transistor hFE and continuity buzzer are must-haves for me. The rest is gravy, but I definitely like the analog bar graph display for a better indication of the "peak" of the signal when tuning, and min/max data hold and autorange are useful. I may not use the frequency and capacitance functions very often, but they are nice to have. Overall, this gauge has advertised similar accuracy specs to the EX330 and adds features not found on the less expensive 330.
