Revainrating 5 out of 5

A complete piece of cheap junk

I bought this because it was the only one with hotkey toggle and it had a 4+ rating at the time (I now suspect a lot of these were fake). It was twice the price of others without hotkey switching, but when it arrived I knew right away that I wasn't paying extra for a "premium" product. Well never mind, I didn't buy it for the looks, I bought it for the functionality! Or so I thought. Unfortunately, hotkey switching was buggy from the start. I couldn't get the mouse to work and the keyboard only worked every third time. Since then it has somehow managed to gradually but significantly deteriorate to the point where enabling the hotkey toggle feature renders the device COMPLETELY inoperable. Obviously some cheap, poorly designed electronics inside. Also, the button feels TERRIBLE when you press it. When I was still using it, I would wince every time, actively avoiding a switch due to the cheap, nasty click you feel. Well if it works - I've found that even the stupid button only works half the time and only if I press it straight down and hold it for a split second. abominable. For downloads and real issues, I don't feel safe at all using it with my devices anymore, even as a basic USB hub. I've had issues with anything that draws even a tiny amount of current from the start (simple LEDs on my keyboard don't work), but I now suspect it is actually sending some dangerous or fluctuating voltage or current to these devices. . They play up, work inconsistently, and sometimes stop working altogether. I really think the insides of these things are just completely screwed up and put together to last a few months until your RMA period ends.
