It says no batteries required, it doesn't plug in!

It says no batteries are required, three AA's are required. I have a 10ft tree, I can't turn it on and off constantly, there isn't even a timer or remote control, and I bet the batteries won't last long! I assumed from the description that it would be a plugin and that's what I looked for. Buy returns!
