3M breadboards hold wires securely. This is great for circuit reliability, but makes typical jumper wire sets frustrating because the wire ends will bend and deform when you try to insert them - even with needle nose pliers. These particular wires are tinned (I think) and a bit thinner. In any case, they can be used without any problems and make circuit construction a pleasure again.
